In automotive body manufacturing, spot welding accounts for over 90% of the welding process, directly impacting the body's strength, precision, and production efficiency. Door rings, patch panels, and sills are critical components of the body structure, and their welding quality directly affects the vehicle's safety and durability.

CROBOTP's CRP-RH26-210-W and CRP-RA32-280-W spot welding robots offer stable and reliable automated solutions for spot welding automotive components such as door rings, patch panels, and sills, thanks to their superior performance in terms of high precision, high rigidity, and high cycle time.

Left and right door ring spot welding: Complex curved surfaces, handling multiple postures with ease

news-563-311

Left and right door rings are core structural parts of vehicle side panels. They feature a large number of welding spots, narrow operating spaces and complex working postures, which impose extremely high requirements on the robot's reach, flexibility and positioning accuracy.

The production line for left and right door rings is equipped with 8 units of the CRP-RH26-210-W robot and 12 units of the CRP-RA32-280-W robot, detailed as follows:

The CRP-RH26-210-W robot adopts a hollow arm structure with internally routed wrist cables. All pipelines and cables are concealed inside the arm, which effectively prevents cable harness interference and tangling with surrounding equipment or adjacent robots. Built-in arm motors deliver a streamlined compact appearance, making this model especially suitable for high-density multi-robot collaborative welding operations on door rings.

The CRP-RA32-280-W robot is tasked with workpiece handling and floor welding. Boasting superior reach and maneuverability, it can reach complex welding positions including lower B-pillar joints, threshold corners and narrow inner sections of door rings.

Only two stations on each side of the entire door ring production line require manual intervention. The production line features a high level of automation, which greatly reduces labor reliance and labor intensity.

Threshold Spot Welding: Long Workpieces with Multiple Corners, Full Coverage Without Blind Spots

As the longitudinal beam at the bottom of the vehicle side panel, the threshold is an elongated workpiece with numerous corners. Frequent posture adjustments are required during welding, placing higher demands on the robot's reachability and flexibility.

Three units of CRP-RH26-210-W robots are deployed at the threshold station. Featuring a compact structure with a small footprint, the robots are paired with G15 electrical cabinets and E-type teach pendants. The fully Chinese programming interface delivers user-friendly operation and easy maintenance. The hollow internally routed cable design eliminates risks of cable abrasion and interference caused by the cramped space of the threshold area, greatly boosting equipment stability.

The production line operates safely and reliably, protected by multiple safety measures including fully enclosed safety fences, safety light curtains, safety laser scanners and zone interlocks. In addition, all core components such as robots, welding machines, welding torches and light curtains are domestically manufactured. Short delivery lead times and timely after-sales support deliver tangible cost reduction and efficiency gains for customers.

Patch Panel Spot Welding: Dual Guarantee of Precision & Efficiency

news-569-319

Patch panels are sheet metal components for local reinforcement on vehicle bodies. Their welding imposes strict requirements on positioning accuracy and pressing stability, featuring densely distributed welding spots that must be tightly bonded to the main structure.

A total of 8 CRP-RH26-210-W robots are deployed at the patch panel station. The robot delivers a repeat positioning accuracy of ±0.06 mm and absolute accuracy within 1 mm, matching the positioning performance of four major international robot brands in the same class. Equipped with standard jitter suppression function, it effectively cuts down vibration during operation, improves welding stability and boosts production cycle efficiency by 20%.

In addition, the hollow arm structure boasts excellent rigidity. It supports multi-angle pressure compensation, deflection compensation and dressing compensation, as well as one-click calibration for welding gun parameters and pressure. This ensures consistent nugget quality at every welding spot, effectively reducing spatter and cold weld risks, and securing a firm and reliable joint between patch panels and the vehicle body.
